The principles of Novus Rehab are a group of professionals from the
areas of healthcare and engineering. They include Tom Conklin, COTA/L
the inventor of the table and Director of Product Manufacturing and
Quality, Doug Behm an engineer and design specialist and Director
of Business Administration and Mark Hyland, OTR/L, CHT, DABDA the
inspiration behind the table and Director of Sales and Marketing.
The idea behind the Novus 6000 came when Hyland and Conklin found
that high tech equipment did not always suit theirs or their patients'
needs. Conklin, with his skill in carpentry got creative in his
garage one weekend spawning the first table. He took this idea to
engineer and friend Doug Behm who saw the passion and creativity
that went into the table's design and added his engineering and
business expertise. With Behm's design expertise, Conklin was able
to build a second table that exceeded the first. Novus Rehab, the
results of two years of hard work, was incorporated in June of 2003.
The product will be promoted via the company's website, an advertising
campaign in various hand therapy publications, promotion at the
ASHT meeting in Hollywood and direct solicitation starting in July
2003. Be on the look out for this new and innovative hand and upper
extremity tool.
